High School Sailing Team
The High School sailing team consists of sailor’s grades 9-12 who practice and compete in double handed Flying Juniors (FJs).
The focus of the High School team is to develop competitive sailboat racing skills. The Seahawks Sailing Team is an official Varsity lettered sport for the Anacortes High School. Practices are held at the Anacortes Yacht Club with boats departing from Q Dock in Cap Sante Marina. Each season the team competes in multiple weekend regattas around the state of Washington. The high school sailing team is governed by the Northwest Interscholastic Sailing Association (NWISA)
Middle School Sailing Team
The Middle School sailing team consists of sailor’s grades 6-8 who practice and compete in single handed Tera and Opti sailboats.
The focus of the Middle School team is to have fun on the water while learning the fundamentals of sailboat racing, boat handling and points of sail. Practices are held at the Seafarers Park Sailing Center, the location of Anacortes Community Boating. Middle School Sailors are each in their own boat so they must have basic sailing skills learned in a summer learn to sail class or sailing with family prior to joining the team. The team competes in several local events with nearby Middle School teams.
