Seeking Rowing Coach

Position Title: Youth Rowing Coach (Middle & High School)

Compensation: $26-$30/hour

Schedule: Two afternoons per week with growth opportunities

Location: Cap Sante Marina, Anacortes, WA

Role Overview

Seeking a rowing coach to lead middle and high school athletes at the beginner to intermediate level. This role focuses on building foundational skills, confidence, and water safety while creating an environment that keeps kids coming back.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach and supervise youth rowing sessions

  • Teach proper technique in sliding seat sculling boats (singles, doubles, quad)

  • Plan and run structured, engaging practices on and off the water

  • Emphasize safety, boat handling, and water awareness at all times

  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support athlete development

  • Support a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented culture

  • Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and storage

  • Communicate effectively with program leadership, athletes, and families

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience working with youth (coaching, teaching, or mentoring)

  • Ability to teach foundational rowing skills and water safety

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred:

  • Experience coaching or instructing sliding seat sculling (single, double, quad)

  • US Rowing Level 1 Certification

  • Experience developing beginner to intermediate athletes
